About the Clinic

Our clinic provides ongoing care for children with congenital diaphragmatic hernia. Our team consists of a paediatric general surgeon, respirologist, gastroenterologist, cardiologist, neonatologist, nurse practitioner, dietitian, occupational therapist and nurses.

Pre-appointment Instructions

Directions:

The clinic is located on Unit 5D. Take the Atrium elevators to the 5th floor and walk to 5D.

Your child may see various team members in different parts of SickKids. You will be given instructions on where to attend these clinic appointments. For example, if your child has pulmonary hypertension the cardiology portion of our clinic is on Unit 4A. Our neonatologist is at the Fetal Clinic at Mount Sinai Hospital, just across the street.

What to Expect During Your Visit

Once you register, you will wait in our waiting room.  Someone on our team will escort you and your child to your clinic room. Your child will be weighed and have their height measured. One of our team members will come to see you and your child. This is a multi-disciplinary team and depending on the reason of your child’s visit, you may see multiple members of our team. This can take one to two hours while we work on a plan to improve the health of your child.

We encourage you to ask questions and participate in the planning of your child’s care. You will be given a follow-up plan for your next appointment.
