Biography

Dr. Gail Annich holds many roles at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) both within the Department of Critical Care Medicine and at the hospital level. Within Critical Care Medicine, she is Director of Quality and Safety and Disaster Preparedness. At the hospital level, she is Director of the Critical Care Response Team, Code Blue Team and Resuscitation Oversight Committee as well as Medical Lead for Mass Casualty and Disaster Preparedness. Dr. Annich is a Professor of Paediatrics at University of Toronto and Staff Intensivist in the Paediatric ICU at SickKids. As a project investigator at SickKids Research Institute, her focus is on coagulation, resuscitation, ECLS, and biomaterials/compatibility as well as development of web-based applications for Emergency Response. Dr. Annich serves as a member of the Strategic Advisory Council on the ELSO Board of Directors and is also senior associate editor for Pediatric Critical Care Medicine journal.  In 2020 Dr. Annich was awarded Fellowship of the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization in recognition of her international expertise in the field of extracorporeal life support.

Research

Dr. Annich is also a Project Investigator with SickKids Research Institute and continues to pursue research focusing in coagulation, resuscitation, extracorporeal life support (ECLS), biomaterials/compatibility and COVID-19. She is on the editorial board for several journals and is considered expert in the field of ECLS.
