Kate Paulino (Jurowicz)

Kate Paulino, MA, RP, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her role as a Program Specialist at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). With a background in counselling and psychotherapy, Kate has honed her skills in providing support and implementing wellness best practices. Kate's adeptness in fostering supportive peer networks not only enhances staff well-being but also fortifies the Hospital's overall resilience and effectiveness in delivering mental health care.

In her current role, Kate plays a pivotal role in maintaining the staff and physician peer network, ensuring mental health risk indicators are addressed promptly and appropriately. She offers crisis intervention and short-term counseling, contributes to program evaluation, and supports Quality Improvement and research initiatives.

Kate's responsibilities extend to coordinating trauma response, facilitating defusing's and debriefings and providing support to leaders in implementing interventions for staff well-being. Kate's commitment to professional development is evident through her extensive training, including in crisis intervention, suicide prevention and motivational interviewing.

Her background as a psychotherapist, EAP counselor and Director of Social Services equips her with a comprehensive understanding of mental health dynamics and interventions. Beyond her professional endeavors, Kate remains dedicated to community engagement, previously volunteering with organizations such as the YMCA and Big Brother Big Sisters of Peel. Her affiliation with professional associations like the American Counseling Association and the Canadian Counseling and Psychotherapy Association underscores her commitment to ethical practice and ongoing learning.
